In response to the firm’s master plan for the campus, this project relocated the University’s athletic field, a change that involved reconfiguring the northern edge and entrance to the campus. Hoerr Schaudt designed a 315 x 100 square foot track and field, and designed a new campus entrance to prioritize pedestrians while allowing for vehicle turn-arounds. The project involved closing a vehicular access point, extensive utility relocation and regrading. New porous paving allows for better stormwater management and the park-like area to the west of the track creates a new northerly ‘gateway’ for entering the heart of campus.
