A history of sporadic expansions over its 100-year history left the heart of North Park University’s campus bisected by city streets and lacking a sense of identity. Hoerr Schaudt reconfigured the campus’ circulation, designed a signature look for the campus that enhances the existing architecture, and incorporated flexibility in the master plan for the school’s future expansions. Waving grasses, brick-lined asphalt pathways, and spaces designed for meeting, socializing, and studying are part of a new landscape that has contributed to an increase in university enrollment.
